SPECIES:
The Iconian people were reptilian that had scales and ridges, they had violet skin colour and purple eyes. The Iconian empire stretched its borders and influence to the Alpha and Beta Quadrant. The empire rose in power and reached its peak and decline 2,000 years ago. The Iconian homeworld was discovered inside the Federation/Romulan Neutral zone by the starship Yamato shortly before its destruction. The Iconian home world was completely destroyed by orbital bombardment by the empires enemies. The Iconians were considered to be 'demons of air and darkness' because of their superior technology. The Iconians had the ability to travel to other worlds without the need for spacecraft because they could open portals using gateways. The other races that they encoutered viewed this ability of theirs to be too dangerous as it jeopordized their security. Therefore many races came together to destroy the percieved threat.
The force that lead this alliance against the Iconians were the Draconians. The Draconians took the outer colonies of the empire with ease and used their gateway technology to place and army on Iconia. War waged on the surface of the planet, the Iconians thought they could repel the army if they were isolated from supplies and reinforcements. This view prompted the Iconians to construct a planetary defence system that prevented ships from approaching or landing. Probes would launch to interfere with the approaching Draconian and other ships, causing them to explode. Therefore thge Iconians were slowly overpowering the ground forces when the Draconians and others began orbital bombardment of the planet with asteroids, the Alliance sacrificed its own soldiers by doing this. The surface of Iconia was decimated instanly.
The Iconian race was not all destroyed in the orbital ombardment, the people used their gateway technology to escape to other worlds. The people went to different planets throughout the Galaxy to ensure the survival of the Iconian race.
The Federation has dicovered some of the descendants of the Iconians on the planets of Ikkabar and Dynasia in the Alpha Quadrant, the planet DiWahn in the Beta Quadrant, the planet Vandros in the Gamma Quadrant and the planet Arcidia in the Delta Quadrant. Of the five known worlds to have descendants of Iconia, only the people of Dynasia and DiWahn have survived their relocation and advanced themselves into a space faring race. No other planets with Iconian surivivors have been dicovered in the Galaxy.
The relic, "The Devils Heart" is a stone that has undiscovered limits af energy and power that was in the possesion and use of the Iconians for thirty years before Iconia was destroyed. The stone is believed to hold great knowledge and have the capability to manipulate the space time continuim. It is believed that this relic of Iconia is partially sentient and can communicate with its holder. The jem has since visited the worlds of Andor, Quo'nos and Vulcan. The Andorians know the jem as Televs bain, the Klingons call it the Pagrashtak and the Vulcans know it as the Ko'nya. The last known location of "The Devils Heart" was somewhere in the Andromeda Galaxy as it entered a wormhole to that Galaxy that has since collapsed.
